Special Meeting of the Economic Policy and Public Finance Workshop
Vinod Thomas, National University of Singapore
“Climate Change and Natural Disasters”
Special Location: Kent 107 | 1:30 - 3:00pm
"The effect of climate change on the severity of natural disasters is being increasingly discussed. Vinod Thomas explores the relation between economic growth and policies dealing with natural disaster prevention and controlling climate change. He finds that by considering all types of capital, including natural capital, climate policy appears likely to drive economic growth, not hinder it. Vinod Thomas has a Ph.D. in Economics from The University of Chicago. He has held influential positions as vice president in the World Bank Group and director general of independent evaluation at the Asian Development Bank. He is author of 14 books."
