
Research Assistant Professor
Neele Balke is Research Assistant Professor in the Kenneth C. Griffin Department of Economics at the University of Chicago. Her research lies at the intersection of macroeconomics and labor, with work on sovereign default, firm and worker dynamics, and earnings risk. Balke’s published work includes studies on productivity shocks and earnings dynamics, and she teaches courses on macroeconomic crises and related topics.
She earned her Ph.D. in Economics from University College London. Balke served as a postdoctoral scholar in the department before her current appointment.
