Associate Instructional Professor in Economics and the College

Sergio Salas is an Associate Instructional Professor in the Economics Department at the University of Chicago. His main research area is applied macroeconomic theory. He has worked on general equilibrium monetary models, economic growth, financial frictions, heterogeneous agents, and quantitative macroeconomics.

Salas previous worked in Chile, where he held several academic positions. He also spent three years at the Central Bank of Chile and one year at the Ministry of Finance. He earned his PhD in Economics from the University of Chicago in 2010.
