
Esteban Rossi-Hansberg is the Glen A. Lloyd Distinguished Service Professor in the Kenneth C. Griffin Department of Economics at the University of Chicago. His research centers on international trade, regional and urban economics, growth, and organizational economics, with recent work on city structure, offshoring, spatial frictions, and migration and climate change.
He is Lead Editor of the Journal of Political Economy, Co-Director of the Becker Friedman Institute’s International Economics and Economic Geography Initiative, and a Fellow of both the Econometric Society and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Rossi-Hansberg’s honors include the Alfred Sloan Research Fellowship, the Robert E. Lucas Jr. Prize, and the 2024 Outstanding Research Mentor Award from the Department of Economics. He received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Chicago.
